Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement on the annual Annie E. Casey Foundation Kids Count Data Book:

"The Granite State consistently outperforms most of the country in overall child well-being, and our rise to number two in this year's ranking demonstrates that the bipartisan progress we have made over the last two years on critical economic priorities for our middle class families and businesses is making a difference in the lives of our children. At the same time, this data shows that New Hampshire is tied for the highest rate of substance abuse among teens, reinforcing that our substance abuse crisis is the most pressing public health and safety challenge facing our state, especially for our young people, and further underscoring the need to boost our education, awareness and prevention efforts."
