Duffy Reinforces Support for Resilient Federal Forests Act

U.S. Representative Sean Duffy (WI-07) offered the following comments after voting in favor of H.R. 2647, Resilient Federal Forests Act:

"Northern Wisconsin communities have been hit particularly hard by years of under-performing timber sales in our own Chequamegon-Nicolet forest. The Forest Service estimates that up to forty percent of our forests nationwide are in need of treatment. In Wisconsin's Northwoods alone, if the forests were harvested to the Forest Service's recommended levels, it could create 4,000 jobs and inject over $200M into Wisconsin's economy.

"The Resilient Federal Forests Act is a critical step to removing barriers to timber sales, improving wildlife habitats, and supporting Wisconsin's Northwoods communities. I was glad to support it today and remain hopeful that it will make it to the President's desk."
