| A. The University of Central Arkansas is not funded as well as its peer institutions, ASU and UALR. UCA deserves to funded on a full time student basis as well as these two institutions. So, I would support more spending in higher education so UCA will receive equitable funding. | |||
| A. If a rainy day fund is established there should be a limit to this fund. Any revenue above the limit on the rain day fund should be refunded to the taxpayers. B. I will support the early release of certain NON-VIOLENT offenders. But, I also want to increase the sentences for VIOLENT offenders. We need to make room for the violent offenders and keep them incarcerated for longer periods of time. F If the private sector can do things cheaper and maintain quality, then we should explore that avenue. In some states prisons are operated by the private sector. | |||

I would introduce legislation to deny the possibility of early-release to those convicted of committing acts of violence against children. C. Building prisons is a last resort. I recommend alternative housing for NON-Violent offenders; and increase the sentences for VIOLENT offenders. However, for the sake of society's safety, building an additional prison remains a possibility. E. Each case will be different but we should go with the prosecutors recommends. | |||

| 1. Deny parole to those convicted of committing violent crimes against children. Our current parole system allows criminals to serve very little time in prison thus making prison or the threat of prison, of little deterrence. 2. Tougher penalties for drunk drivers, especially first offenders. We need to give judges more latitude in sentencing drunk drivers. The penalty for first offenders needs to have longer jail time, a bigger fine and longer periods of probation. 3. The University of Central Arkansas is not funded as well as ASU or UALR. This must be corrected. |
