  • "We must ensure women receive comparable pay for comparable work, the right of reproductive choice, and healthcare coverage that emphasizes prevention and early intervention. We must provide funding for more affordable childcare centers." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "About half of all households are headed by single women. • "Corporate greed and Super PACs are corrupting our political system. Corruption in DC stands in the way of getting some of the most important things done like lowering prescription drug costs. We need to clean up our election system and make Congress work for our families, not special interests. Our elected officials should assure citizens that they will listen with the same attentiveness, whether they contribute money or not, whether they are part of a PAC or not." (www.annanevenicforcongress.com)
  • "Influence of big money is corrupting our political institutions and destroying the fabric of our society. As long as the undue influence of money rules, significant reforms in all aspects of our lives will never happen. We have to prevent the influence of special interest groups being greater than ordinary citizens. The changes that we seek will only happen if we have a limit on spending from special interest groups. Public financing of elections would be the best solution if we are to create a political and economic system that truly works for all of us." (justfacts.votesmart.org)

Change how we educate and train all workers for the jobs of the future. Invest in sustainable development or renewable energy. Diversify our economy by incentivizing and encouraging hi-tech industry to bring their enterprise into the greater Riverside County and Coachella Valley." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "We must expand transportation methods, such as buses and carpools, and give tax credits to employers who provide vouchers for public transit. Introduce additional conservation measures and new technology, which will reduce the demand for water, electricity, and fuel usage." (www.annanevenicforcongress.com)

  • "Anna will stand up for students and families to ensure that early learning childhood programs in the district receive the funding they need. Anna believes in making college affordable and all forms of financial assistance are made available to students. The future of California's workforce will require better education to provide technical skills and innovative problem solvers. Businesses need employees who are job ready, and well prepared. Currently many children are falling behind." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "An economy must be restarted by investing in alternative energy, job training, improving education and creating internship opportunities for our college graduates. Young people are our future, and all efforts should be made to enable them to obtain the well-paid jobs in all sectors of our economic system. All this is possible if we give the same attention to all citizens and not just to the Wallstreet and the wealthy corporations." (justfacts.votesmart.org)
  • "Many of our kids are growing up with childhood asthma because of our high air pollution. I strongly believe in the scientific consensus that climate change is real and man-made. I will fight back against any attempts to undo international agreements on climate change like the Paris Climate Accord. We must incentivize investments in clean energy sources and move away from polluting fossil fuels. The fastest growing industry in our nation is wind energy and solar’s not far behind - the future of our economy is in green energy. I'll work to promote greater onservation and innovation through tax credits." (www.annanevenicforcongress.com)

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
I support women's right to have control over their own bodies and their reproductive lives. A strong society is one in which women are able to plan their family size.
No Do you support United States' combat operations in Afghanistan?
Yes Do you support a timetable for withdrawal from Afghanistan?

Indicate which proposals you support (if any) for balancing the federal budget. In order to balance the budget,

Yes do you support reducing defense spending?
Yes do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No do you support reducing Medicaid spending?
No do you support reducing Medicare spending?
Yes Is balancing the budget a legislative priority?
A balanced budget is important, but not at the expense of social programs and safety nets for our most vulnerable citizens. We must work to reduce unnecessary spending, end tax breaks for Big Oil, and raise taxes on corporations and the super-wealthy, not reduce social programs benefiting seniors and the poor. I support tax cuts for middle and low income families, as well as extended unemployment assistance and support for the food stamp program. I believe tax incentives for research & development in the 41st District will create new jobs and strenghten the local economy.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Campaign finance reform is key to maintaining a strong and active democracy. Monetary contributions influence legislation, and other states are attempting to pass the same clean money initiatives. I will fight to promote the most efficient and ethical use of the people's money and pass legislation promoting clean money campaigns such as has been passed in Arizona. We need complete transparency throughout all governmental departments and agencies so that every tax dollar spent will be accounted for.
No Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
I believe in life imprisonment without possibility of parole. We spend millions of dollars and waste years trying to execute convicts, and many innocent people have been executed because of faulty evidence; it is more cost-effective and humane to keep someone in prison than to go through the process of trials and appeals.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support spending on infrastructure projects for the purpose of job creation?
Yes Do you support the temporary extension of unemployment benefits?
Yes Do you support the 2010 temporary extension of tax relief?
We must end the subsidies to the oil and gas industry and invest in sustainable alternatives. I support introducing an excise tax of 50 cents per $100 of share trading on Wall Street. Billions of shares are traded daily, and if we pass such legislation, it will generate $250 billion per year that could be used for job creation, job training, decreasing college tuition and loan interest rates, and creating internships and job opportunities for college graduates.
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
I do not agree with blanket programs such as No Child Left Behind which treats all students the same. We must pay attention to the different needs of children from different socio-economic backgrounds, and provide students who are behind with comprehensive student support services such as tutorial services, counseling, and other opportunities to catch up and attain academic success. We need a new approach-- standardized testing has proven ineffective, and only brings profits for the companies that produce them. A completely new approach, such as those being used in Europe and other industrialized countries, must be tried.
No Do you support reducing restrictions on offshore energy production?
We must invest in sustainable alternative energy sources rather than continue drilling offshore and creating the potential for disastrous accidents such as the BP Gulf oil spill. The future of our economy and of the 41st District depends on being competitive and technologically advanced. We must make strategic investments to revitalize infrastructure, including high-speed rail, a smart electric grid, and energy efficient homes, to reduce our energy consumption. The 41st District has the talent, infrastructure, quality of life, location, and industry to expand business, acquire funding, and attract new industry.
Yes Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Climate change is one of the greatest threats facing us, and all countries must do their part to reduce consumption and develop alternative methods of energy production. We must regulate greenhouse gas emissions at the federal, state, and local levels to ensure that everyone is doing their part in fighting the negative effects of climate change.
Yes Do you support restrictions on the purchase and possession of guns?
I believe in requiring a thorough background check and waiting period, so that guns do not end up in the hands of criminal or mentally ill people.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Yes Should individuals be required to purchase health insurance, as mandated in the 2010 Affordable Care Act?
Access to affordable healthcare is a fundamental right. I support increasing funding for community health centers and other programs to improve the health of low-income and underserved communities. I will work to make quality, affordable healthcare accessible to everyone, and increase support for states and communities to prioritize the prevention of chronic conditions. As access to health care expands, I believe we must do away with our currently broken system and rebuild around a system of care which guarantees choice, provides coverage for pre-existing conditions, helps eliminate health disparities, and provides investment for upgraded and expanded health facilities.
No Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Do you support allowing illegal immigrants, who were brought to the United States as minors, to pursue citizenship without returning to their country of origin?
No Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration law by state and local police?
By allowing undocumented children to receive citizenship when they've graduated from college, we will be strenghtening the American economy. To maintain our position as a global leader, we need as many educated young people as possible entering the workforce in the near future. By welcoming immigrants who want to study, work, and live here, we will increase their opportunity for a successful, productive life, and reduce rates of crime, teen pregnancy, and other unaccepted social behaviors.
Yes Do you support same-sex marriage?
Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
No Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent Iran from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Our budget deficit is directly correlated with our intervention in country after country, and we must end our military engagements overseas and use the money to build our own economy, repair our infrastructure, and improve healthcare and education in our own country. I support shutting down many of the over 400 overseas military bases. Much of the spending is discretionary and isn't in the budget, and is secret even to members of Congress. The amount of money spent under these practices should be made public.
No Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
We need to keep our promises to elderly Americans by protecting Medicare, Social Security, and other safety net programs, ensuring that our country's most medically and financially vulnerable populations have access to the services they need. Republicans want to privatize Social Security, which would be catastrophic. We have already seen the consequences of the manipulation of markets that brought about the collapse of financial institutions, which then required a bailout by taxpayers.

Eliminate loopholes for corporations and wealthy individuals (who often take so many deductions they don't end up paying taxes at all) and set a mandatory minimum 15% tax, regardless of deductions, so that everyone pays a fair share.
I support investing in clean technology and green energy jobs, as well as the education and training needed for workers to be competitive in this growing field. The revenues would be created through eliminating subsidies for oil companies, corporations, and wealthy individuals who avoid taxes and ship jobs overseas, and decreasing the military budget. We must provide incentives for companies who create jobs here at home. We cannot take money from the poor, struggling middle class families, and students who work multiple jobs in order to survive and pay their exorbitant tuition fees.
