| As a trauma therapist for adolescents and teens I value a strong and inclusive healthcare and mental health system in our state. Montana ranks 3rd in the country for suicide, and Flathead County ranks 3rd in the state. Our community is impacted negatively by suicide and mental health crises both economically and socially. It is vital that Medicaid Expansion is reauthorized in the next legislative session. I value a strong public education system. Investing in public schools, not charter schools, is the key to ensuring a strong community. Our public schools need to be fully funded and our teachers paid a living wage. It is the primary job of the legislature to fund our public education system. I value Montanans' access to public lands. Selling off public lands and closing access to forests and rivers is not what makes Montana the place we all know and love. I also believe that all citizens, businesses, corporations, and property owners must pay their fair share in taxes. The last legislative session granted huge tax breaks to corporations and Montana's wealthiest residents and/or nonresidents leaving the majority of the tax burden on the middle class. If elected, I will champion a fair tax code that requires corporations and the wealthiest Montanans to pay their taxes. |
