What is the Political Courage Test?

California Congressional Election 2022 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals?
With respect to corporations and unions. Individual limitation should remain capped at current levels.
Yes Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
Defense of our Nation is critical to all those living within the borders. We must ensure that we have top of the line artillery, aircraft, and equipment for our service members to execute their duties. We should allocate additional funding to servicemember salaries in order to attract and retain those that we have invested so much in.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
Unknown Position Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation?
I believe that each respective state should be responsible to decide what financial relief should be provided to businesses. Many states forced these businesses to unnecessarily close in the interest of "public health."
No Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt?
Take a loan, pay it back. Many people decided to enter the labor force immediately or attend various other trainings within their budget. It should not be a burden placed on those individuals, their children, and grandchildren to pay for another individuals bad decision. Too many people have been pushed the idea that a degree guarantees success and a high income, however I see many liberal arts majors working at grocery stores and the local Starbucks.
Yes Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls?
An ID should be mandatory to cast a vote!
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Criminals do not care about laws! I believe that gun control legislation currently being pushed will only effect those law abiding citizens. I do think that a background check is reasonable for the purchase of a firearm from a dealer. I think that punishments should be stiffened and actually enforced/prosecuted for those illegal firearms transactions. I am also sick and tired of politicians telling citizens that they should not be allowed to own firearms while also tying law enforcements hands and allowing liberal DA's to not prosecute violent offenders.
No Do you support a government-run (single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?
No Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave opportunities?
Yes Do you support lowering the cost of prescription drugs?
Obviously any way to lower prescription drugs is great for those that need them. I do not believe that the nation as a whole should be forced to foot the bill via increased taxes. Inflation of other goods and services in making the cost of prescription drugs more difficult to sustain. Let's focus on inflation as a whole.
Yes Do you support increasing security along the southern US border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
No Do you support the U.S. providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine?
Unknown Position Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts?
We are at a point where we as a nation are sending so many resources and supplies to Ukraine that our stockpile is threatened. We need to focus on the many issues of the United States and focus on our people first!
No Do you support raising taxes, on any income or on any entity, to promote economic growth?
If we knew where the money was actually going, it would be easier to justify increases. Unfortunately, many times money is moved from one pot to another with taxpayers having little, if any, say. We keep having our taxes raised yet still see our infrastructure crumbling, our roads in disrepair, and our police/fire services cut. If individuals saw the result of increased taxes, that would be much different.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Please explain in a total of 100 words or less, your top two or three priorities if elected. If they require additional funding for implementation, please explain how you would obtain this funding.
