| I'm endorsed by the Move to Amend group, whose goal is to repeal the Citizens United and other ridiculous decisions that give non-living entities like corporations the same rights and privileges as human beings. Campaign finance law needs revision so that only people may make contributions within pre-established limits and every donation should be able to be tracked to a source. All questions that have to do with voting should simply say: "Do you support the right to vote for every of-age citizen without condition or any form of disenfranchisement strategy?" Re-establish the Voting Rights Act. All disenfranchisement is illegal. | |||

| Capital punishment is revenge, and it may sound good, but unless YOU were at the scene of the crime, there's no way to know WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY that a particular act was committed in a particular way. I'd rather sentence prison w/o parole than accidentally kill an innocent person. Most crimes need an educated, and most importantly, FAIR, judge to decide the sentence after consideration of all factors, including age, have been brought into evidence. Private prisons don't work, period. Mandatory minimums take decisions out of the hands of judges, which goes against the whole idea of fair judgment. | |||

| Austerity measures do not work wherever they are inaugurated. Lowering taxes NEVER creates economic growth, only more money for rich people/corporations. Reducing regulations/protections for any sector is tantamount to allowing money to make the decisions. The current minimum wage doesn't allow anyone to succeed. Passing a drug test to receive benefits produces a whole new set of problems that can't be solved with a test. FMLA is a positive societal necessity to improve everyone's life. Providing whatever relief to people is needed is what the government's job is -- to help all people more fully and positively experience their lives. | |||

| I support high standards, wherever they may come from, as long as Minnesota has the authority to create legislation that goes above and beyond whatever goals are implemented. Charter schools have been shown to be a fair amount of hype, not producing greatness or exceeding the outcome of public schools; just like healthcare, for-profit schools don't work equally for everyone. Teachers provide THE basic necessity for the continuation of our society -- education -- so they should definitely be paid accordingly. Immigration laws need SERIOUS overhauling, and making it a crime to get an education is completely ludicrous and un-American. | |||

Clean water is absolutely essential for life -- you don't have it, you don't have much life; check out Flint, Michigan. Companies won't do it because they're in it for the money, which means spend as little as possible. If we get rid of fossil fuels, we won't need 'fuel' economy standards. | |||

Background checks MUST be universal for the entire idea of gun-safety to work at all; you can't have loopholes for people to squirm through so that those who shouldn't have a gun can easily get one or the rest doesn't matter much. Teachers don't need guns -- parents need to accept responsibility; gun-safety legislation will significantly reduce any such supposed 'need'. We license people for literally everything, so why are you complaining about gun licenses? -- stop whining about having to take personal responsibility for your things. | |||

Vaccinations should be mandatory as a public health necessity; my safety should not be based on your purposeful ignorance and stupidity. There should be absolutely no discriminatory phrases, language, or anything else attached to your existence. Hairstyles are now being discriminated against? What's next -- socks? Underwear check? Tattoos? Piercings? Sexual orientation is an innate characteristic that is not 'chosen' any more so than whether you choose blue eyes or black hair. | |||

Suing the fossil fuel companies for damages that equal the total net worth of those organizations (they've known about it for decades but did nothing about it -- it's their fault), then have a non-profit organization operate those assets. Putting all of the money previously pumped into the fossil fuel industry into paying for change-over to a renewable energy infrastructure. This will include retraining and relocation of many workers and their families. We need oil as a raw material for many products, therefore, the basic production facilities will remain. |
