Kim Jensen has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2020 Political Courage Test.
| Pro-choice | a) Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support legalizing abortion when the pregnancy resulted from incest or rape? | ||
| No | c) Do you support the prohibition of public funds for organizations that perform abortions? | ||
| I believe in the exceptions to the funding ban which mandates abortion funding in the cases of rape or incest, as well as when a pregnant woman's life is endangered by a physical disorder, illness, or injury. I believe funds should be available. I also believe in the case of a minor, they should be accompanied by an adult and have mandatory counseling following the abortion. | |||
| No | a) In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing state employee salaries AND/OR pensions? | ||
| No | b) In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| Increasing tax on those over $400,000 would help stimulate growth as it would provide the funds needed to support environmental jobs, infrastructure, education and healthcare. By doing so it would be re investing in the very people that are providing the services for our nation. The tax revenue will support the middle class which supports the top earners. This is one step in ensuring we balance the wealth gap in America. Business owners can not sustain their wealth by accumulating wealth off the backs of employees...they must build wealth with them to ensure a strong and prosperous future for all. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support a limit on campaign contributions to state candidates? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||

| No | d) Do you support requiring a government-issued photo identification in order to vote at the polls? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support automatic voter registration? | ||
| Voter suppression is not tolerated in my mind set. By creating a holiday so that everyone can vote with out worries of childcare, second and third jobs, and amble volunteers imagine the participation you would have. Imagine young children learning the importance of their right to vote for their democracy....their future by seeing the importance of an election day. We need to make voting assessable to all! Show up, give your address and vote. Simple! | |||
| a) Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes? | |||
| b) Should an individual under 18 accused of a violent crime be prosecuted as an adult? | |||
| No | c) Do you support the enforcement of federal immigration laws by state and local police? | ||
| No | d) Do you support the use of private prisons in Wisconsin? | ||
| Yes | e) Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders? | ||
| Yes | f) Do you support the legalization of recreational marijuana? | ||
| g) Should individuals convicted of violent crimes be eligible for early release? | |||
| No | h) Should law enforcement officers be protected when reporting a violation of use-of-force standards? | ||
| *On a, b and g I believe that a yes or no answer is to black and white. Systemic racism, mental illness and abuse need to be considered all violent crimes. The definition of violent crime:, a violent crime, a victim is harmed by or threatened with violence. Violent crimes include rape and sexual assault, robbery, assault and murder. There are many circumstances to consider and a yes or no at this time I can not commit to. | |||

| Yes | f) Do you support requiring employers to provide paid family leave? | ||
| Yes | g) Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19? | ||
| h) Other or expanded principles: | |||
| No | a) Do you support adopting federal education standards in Wisconsin? | ||
| No | b) Do you support state funding for charter schools? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support increasing teacher salaries AND/OR benefits in Wisconsin? | ||
| Yes | d) Should immigrants unlawfully present in the United States who graduate from Wisconsin high schools be eligible for in-state tuition at public universities? | ||
| No | e) Do you support raising tuition at Wisconsin public universities? | ||
| Standardizing testing is not a way to measure education. I was a child who did not test well and I was not a immigrant with English as a second language or a special education student. Spending hours after hours learning helped me on the testing but did not show my mental knowledge. I believe in standards for education in the nation for academic learning processes. We can not rate schools and gage federal dollars off of just this. Teachers can tell you best how we should rate learning and its more than standardized testing. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support state funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support government regulations of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support increasing state funding for clean drinking water initiatives? | ||
| Our current legislators have forgotten the problem. They have decided to litigate instead of mandate clean water. They have decided to choose profits over environment. We have to stop a band aid, smoke and mirrors approach to this issue. We deserve clean air and water. We deserve energy that lessens our carbon foot print. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you generally support gun-control legislation? | ||
| Yes | b) Should background checks be required on gun sales between private citizens at gun shows? | ||
| No | c) Should teachers be allowed to bring guns into the classroom after passing gun safety training? | ||
| Yes | d) Should a license be required for gun ownership? | ||
| e) Other or expanded principles: | |||
| Yes | a) Should the state government increase funding for treatment facilities to combat opioid abuse? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support Medicaid expansion through Wisconsin's health care programs? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support requiring individuals to purchase health care insurance? | ||

| Yes | e) Do you support eliminating religious exemptions for vaccinations? | ||
| Yes | f) Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19? | ||
| I am a business owner and I used the PPP exactly for this. I paid my staff to stay home when sick and sent them to hospital to get tested. If they had no insurance I paid for the test. We have been diligent on safety for us and for patrons coming into our restaurant. Many people don't like our safety rules and are asked to leave. Its simple and it works. We all need to consider the big picture here if we are going to save businesses and lives. | |||
| Yes | a) Do you support the inclusion of sexual orientation in Wisconsin's anti-discrimination laws? | ||
| Yes | b) Do you support the inclusion of gender identity in Wisconsin's anti-discrimination laws? | ||
| Yes | c) Do you support greater efforts by Wisconsin state government in closing the pay gap between men and women? | ||
| Yes | d) Do you support expanding anti-discrimination laws to include hair textures and protective hairstyles? | ||
| There is no tolerance for systemic racism in our democracy. Until Black lives matter no lives matter. | |||
| I am running to represent the voices of my District. I see how we need to make our government responsive to the majority who want fair maps, living wages, a right to first rate education and healthcare, a nation of clean air and drinkable water. Representatives like Joel Kitchens violated our trust and ignored our interest. I will take the voices with me and also keep educating my constituents on matters at the state level especially when they are written to the detriment of our way of life. | |||
| I believe we need to focus on Fair Mapping. Without it we may never have the true voice of our voters in environment, education, health, infrastructure or our economy. By looking into toll roads and increasing tax on the wealthy I believe we can get there. As I will be a junior legislator I will be open to all avenues presented to me. I always have surrounded myself with those in areas I am not proficient and that hold opposite views. I know talking thru problems is the path to solutions. No one can absolutely know what is best! |
