The government should not be involved in these decisions. We should support policies shown to reduce the number of abortions, such as access to healthcare and support for families who have children. Organizations that perform abortions provide many healthcare services and are located in communities where access to affordable healthcare is limited, including providing birth control to prevent more abortions. Organizations that provide abortions currently keep abortion funding separate from other funding. | |||

| Our political system relies too heavily on lobbyists and PACs. Leaders should vote in the best interests of their constituents and not to ensure they get big donations to fund future campaigns. Federal officers should enforce federal immigration laws. Our state and local police perform most effectively when they are trusted by community members. Enforcement of federal immigration laws destroys this trust and harms local police efforts to solve crimes and serve their communities. | |||

| State government spending can drive economic growth. Spending on infrastructure, like our bridges and roads, boosts the economy like little else. Giving middle income families more money to spend stimulates the economy. Our tax policies should reflect these economic principles. I believe in smart regulations that set goals and allow companies to reach them most efficiently. While some companies value environmental protection and worker safety, not all do. It becomes a competitive disadvantage to do the right thing unless regulations require ALL companies to do the right thing. Flexible, goal-oriented regulations level that playing field. | |||

Federal education standards should be vetted and implemented if they align with Oklahoma priorities. They shouldn't be rejected or accepted solely because they are federal standards. Undocumented immigrants who have paid taxes or whose parents have paid taxes to the state of Oklahoma should be eligible to receive in-state tuition. Our state needs more highly-trained workers, not less. | |||

Lower demand combined with greater supplies means the fossil fuel economy is on a downhill trajectory. To ensure our state's energy sector continues to be a source of jobs for our grandchildren, we must propel our renewable energy economy. It's not too late to stop climate change's worst impacts, and Oklahoma's natural gas industry can provide cleaner energy to bridge us to renewables. | |||

| I am a gun owner and support the Second Amendment, but we can balance public safety with the right to keep and bear arms. I support common sense gun laws including background checks for all firearm purchases, strengthening laws to prevent domestic abusers from having firearms, permits and training requirements for those who want to carry firearms in public, continued bans on guns on college campuses, and expanded rights for private property owners who don't want guns in their shops and businesses. Teachers should not have guns in their classrooms. The risks to student safety are too great. | |||

| When individuals don't have health insurance and face an unexpected catastrophic event, ultimately those of us who have health insurance pay for their medical bills through higher premiums. The cost of healthcare is too high to expect most people to be able to afford catastrophic events, so insurance is necessary. Medicaid expansion will cover 200,000 people in our state. We must continue to work towards affordable, accessible healthcare for all. Our entrepreneurs should never feel they can't take the risk to start their small business because they can't afford healthcare without their employer-sponsored benefits. | |||

I propose a plan to pandemic proof our schools and capture our lessons learned, so we are ready if another pandemic occurs. 2) Continued modernization and advancement of our state's medical marijuana program - Our program is in its infancy and the legislature must adhere to the will of the voters as they make rules for this new industry that provides much-need revenue to our state and relief to patients. | |||
| Restoring permit and training requirements for the conceal carry of firearms in public - The additional state background check required to obtain this permit goes further than the federal background check. Training about state law related to firearms and self-defense protects citizens and gun owners. The majority of Oklahomans, including law enforcement leaders and veterans, believe it is unconscionable that a person can buy an AR-15 in the morning and carry it in a park with kids in the afternoon. Fees for the permit are in-line with fees for hunting and fishing and fund the background checks and training. |
