| Generally speaking, a strong defense is the best offense. I want to see our military back at its pre-Obama strength. From that point on, we should maintain current assets and end long-term government contracts, especially those which have low competitive advantages. | |||

| Within strict limits: Currently, our economy cannot afford to provide financial relief for COVID-19 had it not been for the recent economic growth under President Trump. Lowering corporate taxes temporarily to draw businesses back to American cities is an effective strategy, but we should maintain those domestic relationships by adding tariffs to imports that create a demand for American-made goods and services rather than relying to tax breaks or federal spending to maintain economic stability. The Federal Government should step in to assist financially in emergencies only, not maintenance as a shareholder for economic growth. | |||

| Local education standards are an important part of local control, taxpayer accountability and regional needs-based education that compliments job demand. School districts need to be held accountable for national minimums but be able to determine for themselves how to implement their educational goals. Standardized testing, which measures the adoption of federal education standards, should be oversight by which progress is monitored for guidance, not punitive measures that include mandatory retention &"failing school" labels for poorer performing schools. I do believe Federal finance standards need to be implemented and schools that fail to remain fiscally responsible should be reprimanded, then coached. | |||

| Minimal funding for solar and geo-thermal, federal regulation that does not penalize American corporations who contribute to renewable energy and/ or promote internal processes that reduce greenhouse gas pollutants. I believe a partnership between industry and government is the best solution to protecting the environment while providing many energy options for exportation as well as domestic use. Over regulation and limiting fossil fuel development is not the answer. A combination of renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy, education about waste and pollution, and sensible regulation at home and encouraged abroad is a compromise most can agree with. | |||

| Back ground checks, mandatory waiting periods, and restrictions on gun ownership for those who are physically or mentally disabled are logical barriers to abuse of legal gun ownership in the way our Constitution intended. However, gun violence, which must be dealt with, cannot be fully realized through simple regulation. We need to change the way our nation teaches tolerance, values diversity, rehabilitation, mentoring, mental health, treating trauma, and a myriad of other societal problems which lead to violence. Responsible gun ownership is the last line of defense in a democratic society. | |||

| While I do not support free medicare for all, nor do I believe free healthcare is a right, I do expect all businesses with more than 15 staff members to make health care affordable for all of their employees, full and part time. I see health care as a community expense, not a government one. Instead of the inflated dividends many corporations are "earning," and paying their top executives, investments into their employee's healthcare needs, as a part of their salary, should be a way to curb government spending and make employers responsible to their employees as their primary stockholder. | |||

| Asylum seekers (non-offenders) who risk their lives to come to America and want to be citizens should be given every opportunity to achieve that dream. Illegal immigrants who commit felony crimes should be detained and deported. However, the global crisis of our neighbor dictates that we re-examine our immigration practices. A brick and mortar wall is not the most appealing answer to our immigration problems, however, a nation without a secure border will lose its sovereignty. We need empathetic border control that keep Americans safe, deter illegal immigration, give cover to border agents, and streamline the process of building America. | |||

This is a delicate balance for certain, but America's first allegiance must first be to its citizens, then neighbors on our continent, region, and so on. We do our military families a disservice when we interfere in conflicts abroad, especially without invitation, predictable return on investment, or plan for withdrawal. | |||

Meanwhile, we lift tariffs that bring diversity to the marketplace, at the expense of American businesses. A balance in trade is crucial to a stabilized economy. Where there is no joint benefit to trade, tariffs and quotas must remain in place. | |||
| My primary goal is to see our economy grow, with the benefit of that growth reaching far into all sectors of society. Currently our educational system does not allow for the most Americans to benefit from our strong economy because we do not have enough job-ready employees entering the work force. These two priorities: education reform and stabilizing the economy, are inextricably linked. As is my third priority, criminal justice reform. A significant portion of our population live along 2 pipelines: school to prison, or poverty to prison. We must alleviate the disparages that keep Americans marginalized. |
