Dennis Grace, Jr. has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2020 Political Courage Test.
| Pro-choice | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| I am, personally, against abortion. However, this is an example of something that should be handled at the state level. Although I am personally against, I do not believe there is a guarantee one would never be necessary. | |||
| No | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| No | Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare? | ||
| The budget must first be addressed by cutting redundant, unnecessary, and inefficient programs and positions. Once those are identified, and the proper cuts are made, we can then concentrate on taxes, and so called "entitlement" programs. I believe we can do far more good by making those cuts and making adjustments. | |||
| No | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| I do not believe regulation of the ideals and principles of organizations, in regards to whom they choose to support politically is the best way forward. I would rather allow campaign contributions from those organizations than lobbying money being spent freely. | |||
| No | Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct? | ||
|
|||
| Although I back the police and appreciate the work they perform, as a whole, for our communities, I do not believe they should be protected with immunity for their misdeeds any more than my own profession or others would be protected. I am required to be licensed with thousands of hours of previous training and experience, plus carrying insurance and a surety bond as protection against lawsuits. Doctors, lawyers, and many other professionals must carry insurance against malpractice and accidents. I believe those carrying weapons and able to use force and those weapons should carry similar policies. | |||
| No | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
| I am a veteran. I support the military and its members. We currently spend more than the next several nations, as well as providing defense support through NATO and the United Nations. We can still have the most powerful military, ready to protect our homeland, while reducing its size and spending. | |||
| No | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19? | ||
| Under many circumstances, I do not support financial relief for any failing business. If the average American cannot make financial mistakes without the risk of falling into a state of poverty, then corporations and businesses should not have the luxury. However, in a time when the federal, state, and county governments are calling for mandates which shutter businesses or drastically limit its ability to make money, those same governments should be required to provide the finding to keep those businesses afloat and the employees fed. Mandates cannot be ordered without financial burdens being settled. | |||
| No | Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards? | ||
| NO NO NO. No one knows their children and the needs of the population like the communities. Education should be administered by the most local system possible. What is important for the educational needs of a student in rural Nebraska is not the same as a child in urban Los Angeles. | |||
| No | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| Although I believe in the need for new energy sources, particularly nuclear, I do not believe the government can effectively administer such a program and remain neutral. The government should not be in a position to pick winners and losers and to over regulate any of these energy systems. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border? | ||
| No | Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
| I will work with both sides of this issue and already have worked for months to come up with a place for all. My plan will provide for our national security, will provide a pathway to residency for illegals, will protect DACA Dreamers, and will create a Pan-American trade system that will benefit all. | |||
| No | Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts? | ||
| We can best protect our nation and support our allies by not creating enemies and instigating conflict in other countries. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)? | ||
| Absolutely | |||
| Reduced government spending and waste, immigration reform, repealing the AUMF's and returning powers of war to Congress exclusively. We have heard the same promises year after year and nothing gets done. Now is the time to put an end to that. Give me three terms, that's 6 years, and I will leave America and Nebraska in a much better place than we were in today. |
