Ohio Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I support a tax increase on the wealthy making over $400,000, but a tax break on the middle class and tax credits for those at the lowest income levels.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I believe there should be complete transparency in the campaign finance system. I do not support campaign donations from corporations but I do support unions donating to political campaigns because they are workers combining together to exert political power.
No Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
I support reforms to the qualified immunity system. I believe that individuals who do wrong should be personally and financially accountable for the wrongs they commit. Officers and government officials need to be held accountable for their actions but so do their employers in the same way that corporations are responsible for their workers wrong doings.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
I support reimagining defense spending in order to meet the modern and future threats to our country and our allies by supporting our militaries without hading over taxpayer dollars to defense contractors.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
I support protecting small businesses. What we have seen is that large corporations continue to grow while small business continue to go bankrupt. Big corporations are not need assistance like small business do.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I support universal background checks, red flag laws, ensuring that we know if it safe for a person own a fire arm, a full assault weapons ban, and full gun violence research. I also support the repeal of the Dickey amendment.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Yes Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
I support them being required to provide paid medical leave with or without a global pandemic.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
I think we need to significantly repair our amnesty and immigration policies and procedures to know the reason why people are coming to the United States to look into their citizenship status. We need to do a full check on their status for coming to the United States.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
We need to ensure the accuracy of the intelligence before any action is taken against another nation. I do support reducing military intervention in the Middle East as long as a national security threat is not imminent or if one of our allies is not truly in need.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
As globalization increases, we need international markets to be able to import and export around the globe but also make sure that our trade deals are fair to ensure protections for our American workers.
My goals are to expand healthcare options, create jobs, and work to protect and expand education opportunities for our children. I am going to establish a robust constituent services program to make sure my constituents can bring their issue to me for help. None of these programs really require additional funding, they need to be revitalized and we need to repeal the 2017 GOP tax cuts for the super rich and corporations. By taxing the super rich and corporations, we will acquire the funding we need for these programs.
