| I will back efforts to require civics education in grades K-12 so all students read our founding documents and learn what has made America great again and again. I will support a financial literacy bill for high school students, so that we better prepare our young adults to be small business owners and profitable citizens. I will support charter school reform to level the playing field with ISDs. I will support a bill to disallow abortion after a heartbeat is detected. I will support efforts to reform the appraisal system and reduce property taxes. | |||
| My top legislative priority is to protect public school funding during the budgeting process. I support using a portion, not all, of the Rainy Day Fund to avoid significant reductions in state services. Additionally, I want to shore up our laws around disaster and emergency declarations. We need to clarify authority at each level of government to avoid future confusion. We also need to require the calling of a special session after a certain number of days, so the people are fully represented during such an important time of decision-making. |
