Johnny Teague did not provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2022 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from Vote Smart and voters like you.
For Presidential and Congressional candidates who refuse to provide voters with their positions, Vote Smart has researched their public records to determine their likely responses. These issue positions are from 2022.
| No | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| No | Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare? | ||
| The employees and employers contribute to this fund. If the government will set this money aside instead of spend it and if the government will be more cautious in giving out SSI to those who have not worked or who are not citizens or who are not disabled, the programs will not need expansion of federal funding. The government must fulfill its fiduciary responsibility. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| I do believe giving to a campaign is freedom of speech, but I also believe there is a lot of corruption in campaign finance. | |||
| Unknown Position | Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct? | ||
|
|||
| I believe that government officials must be held to a higher standard and that they must follow the law in all that they do. This includes law enforcement officers. Determining personal liability and just punishment is a legal and court matter based on the offense. | |||
| Yes | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
| The number one role of government is to keep us safe. China and Russia have surpassed us in different areas of military weaponry making us vulnerable to attack. Strength is what keeps our enemies at bay. | |||
| No | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Unknown Position | Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19? | ||
|
|||
| I believe that businesses and/or corporations negatively impacted by COVID do need financial relief to enable them to stay in business and to retain their employees. Such relief is best offered by getting them open and fully operational. Tax relief can be a help as well. The stimulus helps, but government must be cautious as it has limited resources as well. | |||
| No | Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards? | ||
| I believe the Department of Education has overreached in so many areas and needs to be restricted as a department or eliminated. | |||
| No | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| No | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| Yes | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")? | ||
| Unknown Position | Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19? | ||
|
|||
| We must rely on the free market, not government intervention and regulations. Each business is different. A mom and pop business with a couple of employees in a public health crisis may be doing all they can to stay in business and weather the storm. Requiring them to provide paid medical leave in that situation may not be feasible with their limited resources. | |||
| Yes | Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border? | ||
| Yes | Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
| Except in cases where asylum is requested, especially when it comes to oppressed Christians around the world. | |||
| Yes | Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)? | ||
| No | Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts? | ||
| I say no in most cases because Israel is in the Middle East and we must do all we can to protect our great ally. With this said, great discernment must be used any time we send our men and women into danger. The Bible says those who bless Israel will be blessed. On the first question, military force can be used after other efforts have been tried and failed. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)? | ||
| But, when a nation like China deals unfairly, tariffs are a great, effective option. | |||
| My top three priorities are: 1/Term limits for Congress - 8 years and get out. We don't need career office holders. It makes them less and less accountable to the people who sent them. 2/Reduce the debt - $23 trillion dollars in debt is irresponsible and threatens every aspect of our nation's security and strength. 3/Return to our Traditional, Biblical, and Constitutional values - John Adams said our form of government is only effective for a religious and moral people. The less righteous we are, the more laws and prisons we will need to maintain our freedoms. |
