| I am pro-choice, but I am definitely not pro-abortion. We have seen a 50% decline in the abortion rate in America since 1990. We can continue to reduce the abortion rate by doing things that work: sex education, teaching reproductive responsibility to young men and women, making contraception readily available, and taking the unnecessary bureaucracy and high costs out of adoption services. I refuse to sacrifice women�s reproductive rights or allow women to be stigmatized over abortion. Criminalizing women and physicians is NOT a rational or reasonable solution for reducing abortion rates in America. | |||

| The citizens are being harmed by the unreasonable imbalances that currently exist in the ITEP program. We need to cap ITEP exemptions and also tie them to more useful milestones for job creation and industrial plant modernization. Currently, we are getting far too little for far too much money in the ITEP program. I wish to grow Louisiana�s tax base through more sensible economic development and sensible reform of the tax credits and exemptions that we provide. It is not necessary to raise personal income taxes nor taxes on small business at all. | |||

| I plan to serve on the House Education Committee and vote to reduce the over-testing of our kids and senseless overregulation of our public school teachers. We also need to ensure that every child in Louisiana has a textbook that he/she can take home each night. The inequity in school resources and quality of instruction is unacceptable. I plan to push for funding for more professional development and resources for teachers to be able to engage in more hands-on project-based learning and I will see that teachers are evaluated fairly, based on the socioeconomic environment in which they teach. |
