| Yes | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| Yes | Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| Unknown Position | Do you support increasing defense spending? | ||
|
|||
| It depends on where the spending needs to be appropriated. We can never allow our National Security to be at risk or our troops put in harms way. We also cannot allow the gauging on these open-ended contracts and non-bid contracts. We need to regulate and have closer scrutiny of defense contractors who abuse the system. | |||
| Yes | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| No | Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19? | ||
| I don't believe in lowering taxes, however, I do believe in incentives to those companies who promote green technology and move to renewable energies. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards? | ||
| The majority of our children are not getting the education requirements that are necessary for our country to be competitive and stronger now and in our future. If we do not fund our public schools for capital improvements, technology, professional wages for teachers and more, then we are creating a National Security breach. | |||
| Yes | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)? | ||
| Yes | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| Yes | Do you generally support gun-control legislation? | ||
| I am a gun owner and believe we have the right to protect our property. I do believe we need gun safety regulation like background checks, red-flag laws, ban large capacity magazines. | |||
| No | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")? | ||
| Unknown Position | Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19? | ||
|
|||
| This is a question where all stakeholders need to come to the table and discuss; federal/state/local government and small, medium and large corporations. A National Public health crisis is different than a local or state health crisis. We may need to budget, as we do for FEMA, for pandemics. We have seen thousands of our citizens in the hospital for more than 2 weeks and so we need to analyze this crisis to determine how can we require businesses to provide paid medical leave or maybe both federal & private. We're learning each day how COVID-19 affects all of us. | |||
| No | Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border? | ||
| No | Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
| I believe in Immigration Reform now. The McCain-Kennedy immigration reform bill that passed the Senate, but not the House needs to be revamped. I want to introduce it in the House. Our most important goal is to bring immigrants out of the shadows. Some reasons are our states economic impact if they all left, they want to be productive citizens and pay taxes, they'll call police on criminals (sex/human traffickers) without fear of deportation, there would be no family separations, our social welfare system would increase if adult deported, and more. Felony criminals would be deported. | |||
| No | Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)? | ||
| Unknown Position | Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts? | ||
|
|||
| We need to use more diplomatic interaction and mediate conflicts. We will need to have a military presence in the Middle East but it doesn't need to be as large as we have now. Russia's presence in the Middle East is a National Security issue that we need to monitor. The Arab states have so much internal conflict among themselves that it's very difficult to negotiate resolutions. Israel is our ally but they also have their conflict between Palestine. I don't want our military spread thin. I want a strong military and strong diplomatic policies. | |||
| Yes | Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)? | ||
| I believe we need to include the provisions/protections in all trade deals that protect the environment and labor standards. This promotes core international standards on collective bargaining, child labor and endangered species. These provisions then make the trade deals enforceable. We have seen this with the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The most important thing is enforce the law. We also need to ensure we are not fully dependent on a country for our drugs, our PPE, pertinent/essential items in times of crises. We have to have a balance. We need to help our businesses when we need them in crisis. | |||
| My top 3 priorities are Healthcare, Education, and Climate Change. Healthcare: Have a Medicare Plan that people can choose. Medicare should be for anyone who wants it. Let there be a plan people can choose. This would then compete against commercial insurance. Education: We must stop defunding our public school system. Our country's future is at stake. Climate Change: We must start creating green technology jobs and decrease dependency on fossil fuels, for our health, environment and economy. All these will affect our National Security if not implemented; water shortages, fires, floods, viruses/diseases, foreign workers, massive social welfare ... |
