Balancing the budget is not going to be easy. We need to maintain a strong defense and at the same time be efficient with our entitlement spending. There definitely needs to be a more disciplined approach to Federal spending as spending pressure on the budget is not going to diminish in the future.

Federal spending could stimulate some economic growth, however it comes at a big cost and has an inefficient multiplier effect. I would prefer stimulating economic growth using other economic tools. Some of these tools are easing regulations on businesses, re4ducing taxes on businesses and improving access to capital needed by businesses to grow.

My preference is for the states and local school boards to set their standards. However, the states should have national guidelines that provide a consistent quality of education which works for the student regardless of the state the student may live in or move to.

The Affordable Care Act was doomed to fail from the beginning. The promoters of the Act wrote the bill knowing the problems that the act would cause would eventually lead to a single payer plan. There are other solutions that can work to address our country's health care needs without bankrupting our country. Some answers could be allowing companies to compete across state lines and addressing the problem for someone with a pre-existing condition. This is certainly a problem that can be solved, however, not everyone can have everything they want for free.

Solving the problem of people here in the country illegally is a complex one. Some people here illegally should be deported, others are here and do not have the goal of being citizens, of course some people would welcome the opportunity to be citizens. Citizenship does not necessarily need to be part of a program allowing people to stay and work here. I would start with protecting the border and addressing a process that allows people that are already here and contributing in a positive way to remain here with a work permit.

The Marijuana Train has seemingly left the station. Recent studies seem to show that marijuana has a negative affect on growing brains of young people. This question should be properly researched in order to be able to make the correct decisions on legislation that could affect the mental health of our population in the future.

Military Intervention should only be used as a last resort. As a famous General once said "if you break it, you have to fix it". The cost of fixing it should be taken into consideration in a decision to intervene. In the Middle East because it is already broken we may not have any other choice but to intervene.
My top priorities when elected would be to improve the economic and living conditions in my district by increasing employment and work force development opportunities this would include improving the wait times at the border. Protecting the border and providing a way for people that are needed to work in the United States can do so in a legal manner. Community concerns as well ad protecting the border with a wall and other detergents to stop human trafficking and drug smuggling and illegal entry into this country is also going to take more federal dollars.
