Ken Sukhia has provided voters with clear stances on key issues by responding to the 2016 Political Courage Test.
| Pro-life | Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? | ||
| If you send me to Washington I will fight for the rights of the unborn and the sanctity of life in every instance. How can you know I will not reverse my positions or buckle in that fight? Because I?ve already fought Planned Parenthood and NOW in a hard-fought eight-day trial in which I successfully defended Florida's Parental Notice of Abortion Act at the request of Governor Bush. I am the only candidate who has personally taken on Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry and I will continue to stand for the unborn in Congress. | |||
| No | In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending? | ||
| No | In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket? | ||
| No | Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions? | ||
| Yes | Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes? | ||
| Yes | Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment? | ||
| Yes | Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders? | ||
| This depends on what you mean by "non-violent" drug offenses. As Attorney General Thronburgh once said, "violence is the inevitable handmaiden of the illicit drug trade." | |||
| No | Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Yes | Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth? | ||
| Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation? | |||
| Yes | Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline? | ||
| No | Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)? | ||
| No | Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry? | ||
| Nearly all states have passed laws substantially regulating the fracking industry and process. | |||
| No | Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change? | ||
| No | Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions? | ||
| No | Do you generally support gun-control legislation? | ||
| It?s no surprise that one of the first steps of an oppressive government is to remove arms from its citizens. Our founders knew this. As George Washington said, ?a free people ought not only be armed but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.? I reject the call for greater restrictions on gun ownership. We must aggressively enforce the laws currently on the books and keep guns out of the hands of criminals, not law abiding citizens. | |||
| Yes | Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")? | ||
| As a principled conservative, I oppose Obamacare because it is a massive intrusion of government in our healthcare system and it advances the progressive agenda to radically transform our free society and re-distribute wealth in our nation. I have already acted to fight Obamacare even as an outsider. In 2009, I was called upon by Attorney General Bill McCollum to assist the legal team that challenged the constitutionality of the ?affordable care act.? I would repeal Obamacare and help restore free-market competition to lower premiums, stop runaway costs and get the government out of the health care business. | |||
| Yes | Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? | ||
|
|||
| My father came to America from India and became a citizen through the naturalization process. I had the privilege as U.S. Attorney to attend many naturalization ceremonies and to formally move for the legal admission of hundreds of immigrants who became naturalized American citizens legally. But I also prosecuted those who violated the immigration laws. A country that fails to enforce its citizenship laws and which has no secure borders is no country at all. We must seal the Border, stop the flow of illegal aliens, enforce the immigration laws and put the needs of our hard-working American citizens first. | |||
| Yes | Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon? | ||
| Yes | Do you support increased American intervention in Iraq and Syria beyond air support? | ||
|
|||
| Yes | Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts? | ||
