What is the Political Courage Test?

Ohio Congressional Election 2016 Political Courage Test

Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Support the rights of all persons to pursue life, liberty and happiness INCLUDING THE UNBORN and most vulnerable members of our society. I believe the Almighty by His sovereign hand ALONE determines when a life is created and also when a life shall end. (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/kevin-f-white-candidate-for-congress-ohio-district-8-on-the-right-to-life/)
No In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Taxes & Budget-The 3-YR Plan: Across the board cuts in federal spending by 1% (approx.. 36B dollars), freeze expenditures for successive 2 years, reduce tax brackets from 7-4, cut personal income tax rates, cut corporate income tax rates, expand the tax base, cap schedule A deductions to 30K, simplify the tax code and abolish AMT. During this three year time frame contemplate additional major tax reform initiatives such as Fair Tax & other proposals. (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/kfw-tax-cut-federal-spending-proposal-7-dec-2015/) NOTE: My 3yr plan (above) cuts spending across the board by 1%; I do not support cutting DOD outside the context of this budget proposal.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Campaign finance rules need reforming. Non-establishment candidates are always at a competitive disadvantage. Term limits won't solve the root issue but they may in fact be the last option available to voters of the future ever since the Supreme Court ruled that corporations are people and have "freedom of speech" rights.
Yes Do you support capital punishment for certain crimes?
Yes Do you support alternatives to incarceration for certain non-violent offenders such as mandatory counseling or substance abuse treatment?
No Do you support mandatory minimum sentences for non-violent drug offenders?
Mandatory sentences bypass the discretion of appointed and elected judges. Judges are in place to judge and sentence. I would advocate for less "mandatory" sentences and more judicial discretion.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support providing tax incentives to businesses for the purpose of job creation?
Government is not the first place to look for job creation. The private sector creates jobs and government policy can either positively or negatively impact private sector job creation. There is little to no systemic discipline in the government sector that can drive efficiencies that compares favorably to how the free market rewards and penalizes risk-takers engaged in private enterprise. Business owners know the next decision they make could be the difference between failure and success. Government expansion, excessive government regulation, massive deficit spending, burdensome high taxes must be reversed in order to grow our economy. (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/category/current-events/)
No Do you support requiring states to implement education reforms in order to be eligible for competitive federal grants?
No, this money comes from the people living in sovereign states. Return strategic and tactical execution of public education dollars to the local schools, parents, and states. http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com) look for "Public Education" under the "Current Events" tab.
Yes Do you support building the Keystone XL pipeline?
No Do you support funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
No Do you support increased regulations on the hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") industry?
I support an all encompassing approach to domestic energy development. Direct funding of specific energy companies & initiatives should not be our first solution but rather enhancing private sector growth and development of all domestic energy sources (renewables or otherwise). Regulatory reform is necessary in order to spur growth. We should not punish certain kinds of energy producers and reward others but rather encourage American energy development across all venues in safe and environmentally responsible ways. (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/category/current-events/)
Yes Do you believe that human activity is contributing to climate change?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Current federal regulations are excessive and our future stance on this issue should be based on common sense coupled with sound science and responsible environmental stewardship. A balanced affordable approach is achievable.
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Second Amendment (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/the-second-amendment/): Support laws that protect and enhance Americans rights to bear arms for sport and self-defense to include a national right to carry law. Marksmanship and being able to defend yourself, in some ways, could be more important in 2015 than in 1815.(http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/the-second-amendment/ (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/thesecond- amendment/)
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Repeal Obama Care aka as the Affordable Care Act (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/currentevents/ do-you-think-federal-taxes-are-too-high-and-what-do-you-propose-to-do-about-it/): Repeal first while simultaneously pursuing cost-cutting reforms. We do not, as a party, have the luxury of unlimited time to wait for repeal to happen all the while ignoring the high cost of this mis-guided law. The issue must be attacked on both fronts.
Yes Do you support requiring illegal immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Secure our Nations Borders (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/what-is-your-positionon- how-the-u-s-government-should-battle-terror-at-home-and-abroad/): Border security is an enumerated responsibility of the federal government as a subset to provide for the common defense. Walls, fences, electronic systems, drones, border patrols etc. every technological and human asset should be deployed smartly to ensure effective border security. We must only facilitate legal entry and exit of persons that can be properly vetted.
No Do you support same-sex marriage?
Marriage is a God ordained immutable institution between one man and one woman.
Yes Do you support targeting suspected terrorists outside of official theaters of conflict?
Yes Should the U.S use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the United States from possessing a nuclear weapon?
DEFENSE & NATIONAL SECURITY (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/what-is-yourposition- on-how-the-u-s-government-should-battle-terror-at-home-and-abroad/): Support a strong foreign policy that trumpets PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH with American leadership at the helm. Re-affirm Americas support for Israel, stabilize the Iraq theatre with American & coalition ground forces, target & coordinate efforts to destroy terror cells in Syria/elsewhere, establish & enforce No-Fly Zones, fortify refugee camps in the region, facilitate political & diplomatic solutions with stakeholders, fund military readiness & support the troops. (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/what-is-your-position-on-how-the-u-s-governmentshould- battle-terror-at-home-and-abroad/ (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/what-isyour- position-on-how-the-u-s-government-should-battle-terror-at-home-and-abroad/))
Yes Do you support allowing individuals to divert a portion of their Social Security taxes into personal retirement accounts?
Taxes & Budget (http://www.kevinwhiteforcongress.com/current-events/kfw-tax-cut-federal-spendingproposal- 7-dec-2015/)-The 3-YR Plan: Across the board cuts in federal spending by 1% (approx.. 36B dollars), freeze expenditures for successive 2 years, reduce tax brackets from 7-4, cut personal income tax rates, cut corporate income tax rates, expand the tax base, cap schedule A deductions to 30K, simplify the tax code and abolish AMT.
