| Millions of Californian's would agree - raising taxes just kicks the can down the alley, and will allow the bureaucratic machine that is our state's capitol to continue its litigation, effectively ignoring the states structural problems. As a grandmother, I am equally troubled by how much money my grandchildren will owe the government before they can even graduate high school. Higher taxes have driven the gold out of California. As a result, Local governments and public school districts are on the chopping block, a steep price in the form of funding cuts. Indeed, a very gloomy horizon for California. | |||

Lawmakers should demand an aggressive audit to look for fraud/corruption in our state government. The audit should also ensure that no community is left underserve. | Public safety is the most essential and basic duty of government. Overcrowding and prison costs are real problems that cannot be ignored, I will completely reject the initiative her opponent supported (Prison Reform Bill ABX3) which will let 27,000 convicted criminals onto California streets. This bill does not separate violent from non-violent criminals and it has been discovered that felons convicted of human trafficking, stalking, identity theft, and violent child abuse would be among the eligible recipients of early release. Couple this information with the fact that California has a 70 percent recidivism rate and this bill is particularly troubling. | |||

Jobs are fleeing our state, and disinvestment occurred five times more in 2009 then in 2011. California has been voted the least-friendly state for small business : the sector of our economy that not only accounts for 70% of total job growth nationwide, also builds strong communities. | |||

It is time that the 70th district and California got a new voice, a voice that is committed to the people of this state instead of the special interest groups trying to serve themselves at the expense of schools. I'm that new voice, I more than anyone knows the needs and issues of the school system that she has served so long. | |||
