Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No Do you support the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade?
I've never wavered in my support for bodily autonomy and the right to equal healthcare for all in Montana. I facilitated multiple groups and events over years while administrating Montana March for Reproductive Rights and will be a champion for this issue in Congress. This election cycle, Constitutional Amendment CI-128 is on the ballot in Montana. By voting yes on this initiative, Montanans will be guaranteed the express right to carry out decisions about one?s own pregnancy, including the right to abortion. Everyone in Montana deserves access to equal and adequate healthcare. Challenges in rural healthcare disproportionately affect women in Montana. Investing in women's health programs and access to care in rural communities will insure the health of our children and families. Everyone in Montana deserves access to equal healthcare and has a right to privacy with their healthcare provider.
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
Unknown Position Do you support a decrease in income taxes in order to balance the budget?
Unknown Position Do you support a wealth tax in order to pay for public programs?
The Balanced-Budget Constitutional Amendment sets forth the basic principle that the Federal Government must not spend beyond its means. I will work to uphold the law in Congress.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations, unions, and individuals?
We've come to this era now where people don't even realize how much corporate money is being spent in politics. This needs to end. We must end Citizen's United. The dark money forces in Montana work for privatizing public schools, for example, turning them into for-profit ventures for corporations they represent. They work for the fossil fuel industrial complex like big oil and gas, and protecting BN from being held liable for cleaning up pollution. We need to end the practice of indirect campaign contributions, a practice which enables corporations to buy elections.
Unknown Position Do you support protecting government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
This is a complicated issue with no easy answer. This must be addressed on a case-by-case basis. Every citizen deserves dues process yet government officials need to be held accountable.
Unknown Position Do you support increasing defense spending?
The Sentinel project in Montana should be a priority for Montana's Congressional delegation. The project will refurbish and make needed repairs to the Minuteman missiles stored in silos across Central Montana. I will fight for the funding to update this project. I support the appropriations for this project. In each other project or general spending, my support would be dependent on particulars of the legislation.
Yes Do you support the federal government increasing funding for affordable housing programs?
Unknown Position Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth (e.g. grants, tax incentives)?
Unknown Position Do you support the federal government taking action, beyond those of the Federal Reserve, to alleviate inflation?
The current lack of access to rental housing and housing for purchase in Montana is not fair to most Montanans. Housing and rental costs here are among the highest in the nation. This is especially unfair to the young. In a starter job in Montana, how can someone afford a place to live? This is a pressing issue that needs to be addressed, meaningfully. We need to work for more affordable housing, using market-based and other solutions.
Yes Do you support the forgiveness of federal student loan debt?
Yes Do you support requiring a government-issued identification in order to vote at the polls?
As far as my knowledge, this is already required practice at all polling stations across America and in Montana.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Unknown Position Do you support the federal government allowing permits for drilling on public lands?
How we approach energy production as we move into a period of unprecedented weather and fire events which will be increasing in frequency over the coming years, sometimes exponentially, should be of grave concern to every citizen. We are facing unprecedented weather events due to runaway climate change directly linked to the physics of burning of fossil fuels. Yet if we cease putting this particulate and others into our atmosphere, we face the loss of a pollutive yet protective layer that shields us from the full effects of accelerating warming. In order for humans to survive, to have modern medicine and mobility and economy, we must utilize a system that is killing us. What are the pathways forward to survive for humanity? This is the greatest challenge of our era, of every lifetime to come. How do we transition from a fossil fuel and chemical-dependent life? This is the question to be answered by many working collectively to find solutions. I concur with President Biden, "As climate change continues to fuel more extreme impacts on communities across the country, we are using every tool in our toolbox to reduce pollution, lower families' energy costs, advance environmental justice, and make our communities more resilient."
Unknown Position Do you generally support gun-control legislation (e.g. red flag laws, boyfriend loopholes)?
We need pro-active responsible gun laws. Montana has a long history of firearm legislation that evolved from real-world issues brought about by unregulated use of firearms. We have pro-active laws that educate young hunters, for example, and we need to continue to regulate and educate gun owners to insure the safety and civility of our communities. We need to continue to encourage and model responsible gun ownership which includes guardrails for mental health issues and education about hunter safety.
Yes Do you support a government-run (e.g. single-payer) healthcare program, such as Medicare-for-All?
Yes Do you support expanding paid family AND/OR medical leave benefits (e.g. maternity leave)?
Unknown Position Should the government be able to regulate the cost of prescription drugs?
Healthcare funding and availability in rural and urban Montana, from prescription drug prices to accessibility, including elder care and family planning and reproductive care is a priority to insure a healthy society.
Unknown Position Do you support increasing security along the southern US border?
Unknown Position Do you support requiring immigrants to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship, regardless of their immigration status?
Montana's international border is with Canada. Our agricultural and industrial producers depend on being able to travel and move equipment and labor resources freely between the U.S. and Canada. The southern U.S. border is located over 1,300 miles from Montana. This divisive issue is indicative of a larger issue in our society, that of assimilation of cultures. We can approach this with more wisdom and knowledge than ever before in human history and come up with peaceful and fair approaches. We must always offer asylum in America for those who seek to flee from tyranny.
Yes Do you support the US providing increased offensive military aid to Ukraine?
Unknown Position Do you support economic intervention as a means of resolving international conflicts?
While economic intervention is not always the proper response, I concur with the U.S. Department of State's position that Ukraine is a key regional strategic partner that has undertaken significant efforts to modernize its military and increase its interoperability with NATO. It remains an urgent security assistance priority to provide Ukraine the equipment it needs to defend itself against Russia's war against Ukraine.
Yes Do you generally support increased regulations on social media companies (e.g. Tik Tok, Facebook, etc.)?
AI data-mining corporations working for advertising and influence agents are to be examined along with social media platforms. The CRM technology employed to eliminate choice in the free market for consumers worldwide is a violation of privacy and should be more heavily regulated in the U.S. We should be at least striving for E.U. standards of privacy protection for our citizens online. After Citizen's United, surveillance capitalism is now being employed in our elections and potentially undermining free and fair elections. I support increased regulations on the data mining efforts of corporations and further inquiry into this industry.
Challenges in rural healthcare disproportionately affect women in Montana. Everyone in Montana deserves access to equal and adequate healthcare. Working in Congress to investing in women's health programs and access to care in rural communities will insure the health of our children and families. Everyone in Montana deserves access to equal healthcare and has a right to privacy with their healthcare provider. Montana feeds the world. The concerns of the farmers and ranchers across Montana need to be represented in D.C. Agricultural producers in the state face serious challenges in the coming years and Montana needs someone fighting strong for our agricultural economy. Farmers and ranchers need support and solutions. The delay in implementing the St. Mary and Milk River Project on the Hi-Line will not only impact 18,000 Montana residents, it will affect the global food supply. Having someone in Congress dedicated and committed to our producers across the state is imperative in making sure we can continue to support rural infrastructure and our rural communities and continue to feed the world. From roads and bridges to public schools and services, Montanans should be able to depend on public infrastructure. Getting our fair share of public benefits from the taxes we pay must be a priority for Montana's congressional delegation. Good public schools, safe roads and bridges and municipal services are priorities in our communities across the district and they should be priorities in Congress.

Vote Smart does not permit the use of its name or programs in any campaign activity, including advertising, debates, and speeches.
