North Dakota's transportation infrastrucure is in need of major repair because of increased oil and ag production. Property taxes are too high. Most citizens think that the fuel tax needs to be raised to help fund road repair. The tax has not been raised in some time.

Reduction in government oversight and regulation must be tempered with common sense and concern for the welfare of the citizen. To quote the North Dakota constitution, 'All political power is inherent in the people. Government is instituted for the protection, security and benefit of the people.

I am somewhat hesitant to support national education standards. Unfunded federal mandates and standards where one size fits all do not always translate into a better education system. Education is a local responsibility funded, for the most part, by taxes levied on district properties. Therefore, most of the decisions and oversight should be local.
