| I would be willing to allow for next of kin notification in the case of a minor if the pregnancy resulted from rape by the father/stepfather. When surgery is performed on a minor there is always the chance of complications, and the mother/father should be aware of what is happening to their child. I do not support public funding because if I don't have a say in your choice I should not be forced to pay for it. One cannot take my money, and then say I have no choice in the matter. | |||

| Since we need government issued photo identification to do most business, I see no issue with requiring it for voting. This issue, however, is a moot point since we have all mail in ballots in Colorado. There would be no way to enforce a law like this without repealing the latest reforms. If I need a government issued photo identification to sign up for welfare, drive a car, or board a plane, why is it considered racists to require one for something as important as voting? Again, it is a moot point with mail in ballots though. | |||

| On 2c, the current laws seem to work well. There are mitigating circumstances, such as age, crime, and mental capacity of the minor to take into consideration. On 2d, we would again need to look at the age of the minor, and may need to mitigate what the charges actually are. Minors may not comprehend the extent of penalties, and we don't want to limit their life choices by prosecuting as if they are an adult, however, they do need to learn the consequences of their actions. The victim suffers greatly, and that needs to be acknowledged. | |||

| Our Federal Constitution states, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Therefore, I see no legal basis for limiting the purchase and possession of firearms. Of course current case law allows for the restriction of those with criminal or psychological records, and I support that. Our state constitution reaffirms this right, and as such, we must follow these provisions. | |||

I believe that the free practice of religion should be protected just as much as the right to join in a civil union. There is a way to allow both to exist. If a civil union is treated as a marriage, and the right to not preform civil unions is kept by the churches, both parties should be able to allow the other their beliefs. | |||
| The two top priorities of my tenure in office would be to extend the deadline for rural electric co-ops to use renewable energy, and to get Colorado out of Common Core. I would like to extend the deadline for rural co-ops because the current time table causes undue hardship upon the small number of customers that are in rural co-ops. I believe renewable energy is a good thing, but we cannot replace coal at this time. I would like to get our state out of Common Core because it does not allow our teachers to teach how they see fit. |
