Priority Issues:

EDUCATION: Increase teacher pay, reduce class sizes, improve school infrastructure, and ensure students have the resources they need to succeed.

HEALTHCARE: Make healthcare affordable and accessible by addressing healthcare provider shortages, lowering prescription drug costs, and protecting AHCCCS and KidsCare.

COVID-19: Protect Arizonans and minimize the spread of the virus by implementing safeguards for our seniors, vulnerable communities, and essential workers.

ECONOMIC RECOVERY: Follow scientific guidelines for reopening our economy, support small businesses, and expand workforce reskilling programs to help people get back to work.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

An elected official/s primary job is to serve the people and advocate for their needs. My life has always been one of service. Service to my country, service to my community, and service to the people of Arizona. I am a retired Marine, mom, and native Arizonan. I?m a small-town kid from a rural community, who grew up working in the cotton fields with my parents. I?m a proud product of government assistance programs like food stamps, section 8 housing, and state-funded healthcare. My story isn?t unique. It's the story of many children growing up in Arizona today. It's just one that isn?t often told. There?s a perception that people like me aren't supposed to run for office. Growing up, I never saw myself in elected officials. I never saw candidates who were like me. Kids like me who grow up in poverty aren't supposed to make it out and succeed. We're not supposed to go to college and aspire to do more. We're certainly not supposed to run for office, and kids like me rarely do.

At the age of 17, I answered the call to serve our country and joined the military. After 20 years of service and retiring as a United States Marine, I returned home to Arizona with my son. While working to serve our communities as a congressional staffer for Congressman Tom O?Halleran, I saw the struggles that every day Arizonans continue to face and realized that our communities were in worse shape than when I grew up. I never planned to run for office, but the needs of our communities have gone unmet for decades. The state of our communities is a failure of the State Legislators currently in power in LD11, who have done little to improve the lives of everyday people. In times like these, we need elected leaders who will fight for us, for the people of our District. I'm not running to fulfill a personal dream. I'm running to empower the people of our state, many of whom have been left out of the conversation for decades. We deserve a responsive government and elected officials who listen to understand, not to respond. I have the leadership experience and ability to bring different people and groups to the table, find solutions, and remove barriers to the resources people need. I am committed to being a voice for the people of District 11 and listening to the needs of our communities. We deserve an Arizona where everyone can succeed, regardless of zip code ? with access to quality public education, high-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and a sustainable environment. I understand the issues impacting Legislative District 11. In the Marine Corps, as a mother, and in the State Legislature, I will never stop fighting for the people of District 11 and our future. I fought my way out of poverty, fought to protect our Constitutional rights, and now I stand ready to fight for the people of Arizona as State Senator in District 11.
