Reason for Seeking Public Office:

Justin DeFillippo was born the early 80's in Gravesend, Brooklyn. His mother, Reena DeFillippo, immigrated to America from Trinidad & Tobago in the late 1970s. His father, Michael DeFillippo, is a second generation Italian-American Brooklynite. Like many, Justin and his sister were forced to grow up very quickly. My parents struggled to keep the lights on or have enough food on the table. We literally lived on donations, with the help of St. Edmunds Church. After his parents divorced, Justin was forced to take odd jobs as a young man. I did everything I could; I worked in the pork store, I was a busboy, I was even the clown at Playrobics. Justin attended Youth D.A.R.E.S, an alternative high school, which was where he was introduced to Peter Romeo, the owner of the Lamp Doctor on Coney Island Avenue. Peter was apart of the Sheepshead Bay Beautification Group which orchestrated the revitalization of Sheepshead Bay by working with the Landmark Society to allow Lundy's to be re-opened. This small act had a real impact on the neighborhood. It had a ripple effect and brought new life and business to the area. This experience opened Justin's eyes. He was able to see the tremendous progress that occurred when politicians, community leaders and small business owners work together towards achieving a common goal. Justin was driven to overcome his past and live the American Dream. As someone who knows what?s it's like to struggle, I think it's always important to give back to the community and pay it forward. He believes his community can benefit from a common sense approach to legislation. Justin DeFillippo currently lives in Staten Island with his wife, Sandra DeFillippo, a Russian American, and their two children and rescue dog. He is an avid gun owner who believes each person has the right to protect and defend themselves and their families. Justin is also the owner of a small electrical contracting company,

Just Electric NYC Corp, which helps to employ individuals looking to develop a skilled trade.
