Priority Issues:
Here are my top 10 campaign public policy issues:
1. Term Limits for all members of the NYS Legislature, including the office of Governor. This is the most powerful, direct and guaranteed way to ensure "Career Politicians" vacate their offices on a periodic basis -reducing the opportunities for corruption- and opening opportunities for public service for others, especially the young.
2. School Choice for New York. Support the Charter school movement and push for more public school options for working class parents, including religious and private schools. Also full support for all other public educational institutions, including CUNY, SUNY and fully vetted vocational training organizations. Encourage the private sector to participate in public education to provide added efficiencies and improve quality with full accountability, transparency and tough performance metrics.
3. Strong support for small businesses and entrepreneurship, specially working with the private sector to provide more ample financing opportunities for job creators, innovators and industries "disruptors." Also work to create a better and more competitive overall "business climate" for New York State.
4. Make the "Dream Act" a reality. A young mind and talent is a terrible thing to waste. Underage immigrants should not suffer from the decisions of their parents.
5. Partner with the private sector to make Queens a major global tourist destination that can share the spotlight with Manhattan. A small, government led initiative is not enough.
6. Make New York 100% digitally connected everywhere 24/7, including inside NYC Subway trains.
7. Cooperate with, encourage and challenge NY Corporate America to put a lot more substance to these voluntary initiatives: Corporate Social Responsibility, Brand Citizenship, and Diversity & Inclusion.
8. Champion The Family and The Individual, as society's primary institutions. Government work must be centered on the needs of The Family and The Individual to give them maximum power and control. Government is there to serve them, not the other way around. Freedom and Faith are the other major components that we must champion as New Yorkers and Americans, including a continued celebration of our Judeo-Christian heritage and our foundation as a "Nation Under God."
9. Support "NYs Finest" and "NYs Bravest." Law & order, keeping our citizens safe from violence and crime, and also protecting them from hazards like fires and other calamities, is the most fundamental duty of Government. I will work to ensure our State Government fulfills all of its obligations with maximum effectiveness and efficiency.
10. Fully leverage NYC's "Global Culture Economy." Here are two examples. Make New York City the undisputed "Salsa Music & Dancing Capital of the World" building on its rich tropical music history as the home of the Fania All-Stars, Tito Puente, the launching pad of the careers of legendary singers Ruben Blades, Marc Anthony and of so many other Latin music prodigies. We will beat Cuba, Colombia and Puerto Rico off their Salsa Music pedestals. Also work to make New York City the "Fútbol/Soccer Capital of the World," supporting the "World's Game" in the "World's Capital." Soccer is a game that brings families and diverse American communities together while promoting fitness and exercise along with discipline and the ability to work effectively with others. Go NYCFC! ; - )
