Reason for Seeking Public Office:

I'm running to represent Connecticut's 35th House District: Clinton, Killingworth and Westbrook.

I'm running because I'm passionate about crafting legislation carefully and critically, taking the long view, and anticipating the effects of our laws. State Representatives and Senators, both in and out of our district, hear from me frequently. While it's impossible to predict everything we'll have to address in the next session, I commit myself to approaching all issues -- whatever they are -- based on these three underlying principles:

I'll stand for Our Future

It really is "for our children." I promise to look to the next generation -- not just to the next election. I promise to work and vote like our kids depend on it. That doesn't just mean supporting education and services that they need today. It also means building the kind of economy that will provide good jobs for them in the future. And it means ongoing, committed stewardship of our environment. In our shoreline area, conservation of our natural environment and addressing climate change directly impact our local economy.

I'll stand for All Constituents

I'll represent all constituents: I can't vote the way everybody wants. But I promise to listen to your concerns and try to understand why you think as you do. And for my part, I commit myself to explaining my actions to you -- especially when you don't support those actions. I will respect your views and work towards compromise to address the concerns of all.

I'll stand for Connecticut with Honesty and Transparency

I make one unequivocal promise: transparency in my actions. Promising to tell the truth is easy. I'll go beyond that and promise not to cloud issues with double-talk and political spin.

Spouse's Occupation:

My husband Paul is a retired teacher and environmental scientist, and a Vietnam veteran.
