Priority Issues:

I am running because for the past few years it has been evident to me, from my professional experience and as Chair of the Hyde Park Village Trustees, that our state government is having difficulty understanding and defining its role in our state and local communities.

For too many people, things have become more and more challenging. It is becoming difficult for normal citizens to understand and participate in decisions that affect their daily lives. It is my intent to influence the processes, as well as the decisions that are made in the State Legislature. It is also my intent to work collaboratively and compromise, when it is necessary, to move us forward.

There are many issues to focus on as we move forward. While I know a little about many of these issues, I plan to learn a lot more to be effective in Montpelier. With that said, during this campaign I will be listening and learning from friends and neighbors with many perspectives to better understand the issues more in depth and to try and bridge the gap between the everyday person on the street and the legislators in Montpelier.

I am pleased to have the energy, enthusiasm and opportunity to serve the people of the region that I have called home for over half of my life. We have a solid foundation, built upon principles of democracy, and dedicated communities that want to see things continue to improve for those who live here now, and for future generations.

The issues that I see as priorities are: Affordability, Education, Health Care, and Energy. All of these issues are related, overlap, and are critical to our quality of life. What is done in one area affects the others, so we can leverage improvement in one area to make improvements in others.
