Reason for Seeking Public Office:

Why am I running?

I am running to provide a fresh perspective in the legislature as a trained scientist (M.S. in zoology, Ph.D. in ecology), a former wildlife researcher, a co-owner of a small business, a woman, a parent, and a long-time activist. I was raised with a strong sense of justice and the belief that if something is wrong I should work to correct it. I believe in the inherent dignity and equality of people and believe it is the job of government to protect our rights.
I was so dismayed about the budget priorities in the last few legislative sessions that I was compelled to get more involved. Lives are at stake and I have the intelligence, open-mindedness, passion and compassion to work for practical solutions.
