Reason for Seeking Public Office:

Both sets of my grandparents were immigrants to this country at the beginning of the 20th Century and they worked hard to create a successful path for my parents and my generation. They bequeathed to me the expectation that I would do the same, not only for my family but for my community as well. I am driven to meet that expectation, specifically, that I would leave the world a better place than I found it, enlarging the opportunities for success for others that I myself have been generously given. As a nation, our political system is in disarray and our people are more polarized than ever before. We need rational, evenhanded and responsible leadership at every level of government. We need leaders who are committed to the highest ethical standards of personal and public conduct who do not target groups of people based on any identifiable characteristics on whom to blame the ills of the rest. We need leaders whose politics and behavior are guided by the highest ethics due to faith but who are committed to the principle of secular pluralism. We need leaders who have faith but who are committed to the separation of church and state, especially in public education, and who value genuine science as a guide for environmental stewardship. We need leaders who understand that labor unions members are not the reason for economic difficulties but are the backbone of industries that built this nation into an economic world power. I am running for office because I am the kind of person that my grandparents would vote for because I am that kind of leader.
