Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Raghu is passionate about social and economic issues that affect the daily lives of all people. He believes we need more compassion and understanding in our society, in both the public and private sectors, and that only through such compassion can we build strong and unified communities characterized by social diversity and inclusiveness as well as economic and political strength. He believes compassion is both innate and learned and that it is born of caring and love starting at birth. He understands that such caring and love require a strong and healthy economic and social environment and upbringing, including companionship, family, friendship, schooling, spirituality and sportsmanship.
Despite the obstacles and struggles that seem to always present themselves at often the most inopportune of times, he is utterly optimistic and believes that there is an inherent goodness in people and that with compassionate spirit and cooperation we can together build thriving healthy communities that include ALL people regardless of age, color, creed, disability, gender, origin, race, religion or sexual orientation. While all of us are different in one way or the other, in the eyes of our law and society as a whole we should always be treated equally. Simply put, different, but equal.
He thinks that our society needs to find creative mechanisms to make sure no American, neither adult nor child, is left behind and that ALL Americans have a stake in the well-being of our society. Being an entrepreneur himself, he whole-heartedly believes in capitalism. However, he believes capitalism, without some rationality and reigning-in, is environmentally and societally detrimental. He believes our prevailing capitalistic economic system needs an injection of compassion for people, animals, and environment.
