Reason for Seeking Public Office:

My name is Danette Harris and I am the Democratic candidate running to represent the 82nd District in the Kansas House of Representatives. My opponent has become too extreme and ideological. He is a strong supporter of the Brownback agenda and its failed policies. Kansas continues to face large fiscal deficits and the extremists in the legislature refuse to address the real problem; the disastrous tax policy that unfairly shifted the burden onto working families. As a result, our state has suffered massive budget shortfalls, leading to deep and devastating cuts to public education and other essential state services and programs. Kansas is operating in a perpetual state of fiscal crisis and the current policy is unsustainable.
As a combat veteran and military leader, I know the meaning of service. When elected, I will serve you by bringing responsible leadership to Topeka and working to ensure the interests of all Kansans are represented. It is time to move forward with new ideas that address our problems. We must make the economy work for all Kansans, not just the wealthy.
