Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I've lived most of my life in Wisconsin. I am proud of this state, and I love its progressive values: good schools, strong communities, stewardship of our environment, and a clean and open government -- a government that is transparent and easy to participate in, and that helps make sure the rules are applied fairly and everyone has an opportunity to make the most of themselves.
Recently, we're starting to lose these Wisconsin values. Public schools are being de-funded. Money is being taken out of our communities in exchange for tax breaks for large out-of-state corporations. Environmental regulations are being changed to favor short-term profits. And decisions in Madison are made without citizen input, with no time to read the bills, with inadequate notice of hearings, and pushed through by an administration which appears to care only about its supporters and not about the ordinary Wisconsin citizens.
That's not the Wisconsin I know and love. I'm running for Assembly because we need to return our government to the values that made this state a great place to live and work.
