Reason for Seeking Public Office:
Ann states:
"As a retired teacher and a family farm owner, I value hard work. During the last two legislative Sessions in Pierre, I was the first one to open the office door in the morning and the last one to close it at night. I'll carry on this tradition as a Senator for District 16 who represents ALL of District 16. As a member of the Beresford Chamber of Commerce and the Dakota Valley Business Council, I've also worked hard to understand our District's unique needs for economic development. "
"As a Debate Coach for close to 30 years, I've always had an interest in politics and government and was dedicated to teaching my students to research thoroughly and advocate persuasively. When I was elected President of the Sioux Falls Education Association, the largest professional association of teachers in the state, I worked diligently to help SD students and teachers as I contacted state legislators on education issues. I often spoke to the media on these issues. If I am able to elicit voter support and gain this office, you will have put one feisty debate coach in Pierre. I promise you to research the issues, learn the truth, advocate eloquently, and honestly work on behalf of the people of District 16."
