Reason for Seeking Public Office:

After the Gulf War of 1991 I suffered from mercury poisoning which almost took my life, my career and my marriage but by the grace of God, family, friends and this great nation I am alive today fully recovered. Yet that experience enabled me to become good friends with two fellow pilots and Gulf War veterans - KC SCHOW and Mike DONNELLY. Both of these men were diagnosed with terminal illnesses before the age of 40 and both given two years to live. What I witnessed in these American heroes is what I would call the epitome of "Service before Self." Knowing that they were dying they unselfishly gave their remaining time back to their community, their State and this great Nation.

It is that example that has provided me the motivation and encouragement to serve our community on Boards and Commissions, as Founder of Tempe Dollars for Scholars providing need based scholarships to high school youth in our District. As President of the Kiwanis Nuevo Club where we are "serving the children of the world" and as founder and Chairman of Voices Take Flight where we are helping people with neurological diseases, and now running for the Arizona State House of Representatives.

I think when people ask someone why they are running for office that is inspiration for me personally but, this election is NOT about me it is about the people of this district. WE have said that before and we will say it again. That is why our campaign is called Team Schmuck and not Frank Schmuck. Because TEAM is an acronym that stands for Together Everyone Achieves More, and the motto of Team Schmuck is TO SERVE:

Treat Everyone Fairly
Obey the Laws of the Land

Solve Problems
Explore Possibilities
Respect Differences
Value Cost and
Energize others to do the same and that is why were here this evening.
That's why we as a Team are running and that's why this election is about the people of District 20. That is why we have taken the time to walk literally more than 15,000 homes and interview people to find out the issues that are important to them, and those that are priorities for the people of District 20.
