Vote to pass a bill that requires law enforcement agencies to provide crime victims with immigrant rights information in certain circumstances in California.

Highlights:

• Requires law enforcement and prosecuting agencies to inform crime victims, or their representatives, of potential rights to immigration relief during initial contact or follow-up investigations (Sec. 3-4). 

• Requires that these agencies provide victims with an “Immigrant Victims Rights and Resources" card at no cost (Sec. 4). 

• Authorizes the “Immigrant Victims Rights and Resources" card to be designed as part of, and included with, the existing “Marsy Rights” card (Sec. 4). 

• Requires the Attorney General to design and make the card available by January 1, 2028, in English, Spanish, and any other language currently used for “Marsy Rights” cards (Sec. 4). 

• Specifies that the card must include information on eligibility for U visas, T visas, and relief under the federal Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) (Sec. 4). 

• Requires the card to include a statement on how to consult an immigration attorney and provide the website address for a list of legal service providers (Sec. 4).
