Vote to pass bill that prohibits individuals convicted of sexual assault or human trafficking from running for public office in California.
Prohibits individuals convicted of a felony involving sexual assault or human trafficking from being considered as a cadidate for or elected to any state or local elective office (Sec. 2).
Defines “sexual assault” as any crime requiring registration as a sex offender (Sec. 2).
Specifies that “conviction of a felony” includes convictions under the laws of any other state, the federal government, or a foreign government for a crime that would constitute a felony in California, provided the person has not received a pardon (Sec. 2).
