Title: Limits the Eligibility of Immigrants for Social Services
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that limits the eligibility of immigrants for social services in Louisiana.
Limits immigrant eligibility for Medicaid, Medicare, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and any health plan offered through the Affordable Care Act, to those who are (Sec. 1):
Lawfully admitted for permanent residence as an immigrant, excluding visitors, tourists, diplomats, students, and other individuals admitted temporarily;
Granted the status of Cuban or Haitian entrant; or
An individual lawfully residing in the United States pursuant to a Compact Free Association.
Requires the Louisiana Department of Health to provide a single reasonable opportunity period to verify U.S. citizenship or satisfactory immigration status for any applicant seeking enrollment in Medicaid (Sec. 1).
