Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the hiring of seasonal employees by the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs to employ seasonal workers throughout the calendar year (Sec. 1).

• Defines “seasonal employees” as unclassified workers who work fewer than 1,699 hours in any 12-month period (Sec. 1). 

• Exempts these seasonal and project-based employees from receiving state benefits, including retirement, health, dental, and life insurance, as well as paid leave and holidays (Sec. 1). 

• Requires the Department to include a summary of its project labor usage, including the number of workers and total wages paid, in its annual budget request (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that this act takes effect on November 1, 2026 (Sec. 2).
