Title: Establises a Fleet Conversion Task Force
Vote to pass a bill that establishes a Fleet Conversion Task Force to advise on the conversion of commercial fleets to zero emission in New Jersey.
Establishes the Fleet Conversion Task Force to study and modernize motor vehicle fleets to be zero-emission (Sec. 1).
Establishes duties of the Task Forces for the following purposes (Sec. 1):
Requires Task Force to study the challenges faced by commercial motor vehicle fleet owners and operators in converting their fleets to zero emission vehicles;
Authorizes Task Force to coordinate with the necessary stakeholders to develop a cost-effective ecosystem to support the transition to zero-emission motor vehicle fleet; and
Establish recommendations for policy changes that could efficiently reduce greenhouse gas emissions from commercial motor vehicles.
Specifies Task Force to be composed of 15 members (Sec. 2).
Authorizes Task Force to hold public hearings in various regions of the State and obtain feedback from entities such as public fleets, regional trucking and drayage companies, railroads, environmental organizations, producers of electric vehicle infrastructure, labor organizations, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission, and local governments (Sec. 2).
Specifies that Task force members serve without compensation (Sec. 2).
Requires The Department of Environmental Protection to provide assistance to Task Force for their duties (Sec. 2).
Requires Task Force to report its findings and recommendations to the Governor and Legislature no later than 18 months after its formation (Sec. 2).
Authorizes Task Force to establish subcommittees if needed (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 3).
