Title: Requires Municipalities to Include a Heat Mitigation Plan in Their Master Plans
Vote to amend and pass a bill that requires municipalities in Nevada to include a heat mitigation plan in their master plans.
Requires counties with a population between 100,000 to 700,000 people to adopt a heat mitigation plan as part of their master plan (Sec. 1).
Requires counties with a population over 700,000 people to adopt a heat mitigation plan as a part of their master plan that accounts for access to public cooling places, public drinking water, cool building practices, shade over paved surfaces, and other heat mitigation measures (Sec. 2).
Defines “shade over paved surfaces” as including shade structures and urban tree canopies, with preference for native and drought tolerant species (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this Act is effective July 1, 2026 (Sec. 5).
