Vote to pass a bill that requires generative artificial intelligence (AI) developers in New York to disclose the training data used to train the AI on their websites.

Highlights:

• Requires the developer of any generative artificial intelligence (AI) model or service to post on their website the data used to train the model or service by January 1, 2027 (Sec. 1).

• Requires the information of data used include, at minimum, the following (Sec. 1):

• The sources or owners of the datasets;

• A description of how the datasets further the intended purpose of the AI model or service;

• The number of data points included in the datasets; 

• A description of the types of data points within the datasets;

• Whether the datasets include any data protected by copyright, trademark, or patent;

• Whether the datasets were purchased or licensed by the developer;

• Whether the datasets include personal information or personal identifying information;

• Whether the datasets include aggregate consumer information;

• Whether there was any cleaning, processing, or other modification to the datasets by the developer;

• The time period during which the data in the datasets were collected;

• The dates the datasets were first used during the development of the AI model or service; and

• Whether the generative AI model or service used or continuously uses synthetic data generation in its development.

• Exempts developers of generative AI models or services intended for the following from the requirement of this act (Sec. 1):

• The operation of aircraft in the national airspace; or

• Purposes of national security, military, or defense that is made available only to a federal entity.

• Specifies that this act takes effect upon passage (Sec. 2).
