Title: Alaska's Right To Ivory Sales and Tradition (ARTIST) Act
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits states from banning the trade of marine mammal products produced by Alaskan Natives.
Prohibits states from banning the importation, sale, transfer, trade, barter, or possession of marine mammal ivory, marine mammal bone, or baleen legally produced by an Alaska Native as an authentic Alaska Native article of handicrafts and clothing (Sec. 2).
NOTE: THIS VOTE WAS TAKEN UNDER A SUSPENSION OF THE RULES TO CUT OFF DEBATE EARLY AND VOTE TO PASS THE BILL, THEREBY REQUIRING A TWO-THIRDS MAJORITY FOR PASSAGE.
