Title: Requires Eviction Filings to be Removed from Public Records After Seven Years
Vote to concur with Senate amendments and pass a bill that requires eviction filings to be removed from public records in South Carolina after seven years.
Requires eviction filings and records which include personal information of a defendant to be removed from the public index seven years after the final disposition, including records of (Sec. 1):
Orders of Eviction;
Writ of Ejectment;
Cases resolved by settlement; or
Cases resolved by subsequent payment that satisfied any debt.
Requires eviction filings and records that are at least seven years old and which have no subsequent filings to be removed from the public index by the responsible agency (Sec. 2).
Specifies that this Act takes effect on January 1, 2027 (Sec. 3).
