Vote to pass a bill that amends the Congressional districts for the U.S. House of Representatives in South Carolina that were established following the 2020 Census.

Highlights:

• Establishes seven new Congressional districts from which members of the U.S. House of Representatives from South Carolina shall be elected (Sec. 1).

• Repeals the existing Congressional districts which were established based on demographic data from the 2020 Census (Sec. 2).

• Specifies that members of boards, commissions, committees, and authorities of the state elected or appointed from the existing seven Congressional districts shall continue to serve until the General Assembly establishes new districts following the 2030 Census (Sec. 3).

• Requires candidates seeking nomination by a political party primary or a political party convention in 2026 to file between noon on June 1, and noon on June 5 (Sec. 4).

• Requires a special primary election to be held on August 18, 2026 for the seven seats of the U.S. House of Representatives to be voted on in the November 3, 2026 general election (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that a special runoff primary, if necessary, shall be held on September 1, 2026 (Sec. 4).

• Prohibits any votes cast in the June 9, 2026 statewide primary election for the U.S. House of Representatives from being counted (Sec. 4).

• Specifies that this Act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 5).
