Vote to pass a bill that authorizes nurses who have the appropriate credentials to perform home services foot care in Rhode Island.

Highlights:

• Requires that nurses who provide home services foot care be licensed as registered nurses and be certified and credentialed by a relevant national professional organization, including the American Foot Care Nurses Association, the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board, or another substantially equivalent organization (Sec. 1).

• Requires such nurses to demonstrate clinical competency in all areas consistent with nationally recognized standards of foot care nursing practice (Sec. 1)

• Requires nurses who provide in-home foot care to ensure that two out of the 10 required hours of continuing education per certification period are focused on foot care (Sec. 1).

• Specifies the regular home care services that nurses are authorized to perform under this Act (Sec. 1)
