Title: Authorizes Properly Credentialed Nurses to Perform Home Service Foot Care
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes nurses who have the appropriate credentials to perform home services foot care in Rhode Island.
Requires that nurses who provide home services foot care be licensed as registered nurses and be certified and credentialed by a relevant national professional organization, including the American Foot Care Nurses Association, the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board, or another substantially equivalent organization (Sec. 1).
Requires such nurses to demonstrate clinical competency in all areas consistent with nationally recognized standards of foot care nursing practice (Sec. 1)
Requires nurses who provide in-home foot care to ensure that two out of the 10 required hours of continuing education per certification period are focused on foot care (Sec. 1).
Specifies the regular home care services that nurses are authorized to perform under this Act (Sec. 1)
Requires the Department of Health to determine fair and reasonable license and renewal fees for nurses who provide services under this Act (Sec. 1).
Specifies that this Act takes effect immediately upon passage (Sec. 2).
