Vote to amend and pass a bill that restricts Tier 3 criminal offenders from entering designated child safety zones without a legitimate purpose in New Hampshire.

Highlights:

• Prohibits individuals required to register as a tier III offender resulting from a crime where a victim was under 18 years old from entering or going within 500 feet of a child safety zone (Sec. 1).

• Defines “child safety zones” as the following (Sec. 1):

• A public or private elementary or secondary school;

• A licensed child care facility or day care center;

• A public park, playground, or public swimming pool; or

• A designated school bus stop currently in use.

• Exempts tier III offenders from the prohibition of this section under the following circumstances (Sec. 1):

• They are transporting their own child to or from the facility;

• They are participating in a constitutionally protected activity, such as voting; or

• They are traveling to or from their place of residence or employment that was established prior to the effective date of this section.

• Specifies that this Act will take effect on January 1, 2027 (Sec. 2).
