Title: Restricts Tier 3 Criminal Offenders from Entering Designated Child Safety Zones
Vote to amend and pass a bill that restricts Tier 3 criminal offenders from entering designated child safety zones without a legitimate purpose in New Hampshire.
Prohibits individuals required to register as a tier III offender resulting from a crime where a victim was under 18 years old from entering or going within 500 feet of a child safety zone (Sec. 1).
Defines “child safety zones” as the following (Sec. 1):
A public or private elementary or secondary school;
A licensed child care facility or day care center;
A public park, playground, or public swimming pool; or
A designated school bus stop currently in use.
Exempts tier III offenders from the prohibition of this section under the following circumstances (Sec. 1):
They are transporting their own child to or from the facility;
They are participating in a constitutionally protected activity, such as voting; or
They are traveling to or from their place of residence or employment that was established prior to the effective date of this section.
Specifies that this Act will take effect on January 1, 2027 (Sec. 2).
