Title: Requires Data Centers to Pay Their Electric Bills and Regulate Water Usage
Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that requires data centers to pay their electric bills and regulate water usage in South Dakota.
Requires electricity providers to establish and maintain separate terms and conditions for electric services provided to data centers (Sec. 3).
Prohibits the State from placing limits on the authority of the governing body of a county or municipality to adopt ordinances that limit or regulate the construction or operation of data centers (Sec. 4).
Requires operators of data centers to provide notice of projected water consumption to each local water authority in the area (Sec. 5).
Requires operators of data centers to submit a semi-annual report to the Board of Water Management regarding the data center’s water use (Sec. 6).
