Title: Authorizes a Vote to Approve a Constitutional Convention
Vote to pass a bill that authorizes a statewide vote to approve a constitutional convention in Oklahoma.
Authorizes a Constitutional Convention to alter, revise, or amend the current Oklahoma Constitution or propose a new Constitution to be voted on by the state’s citizens (Sec. 1).
Specifies that the Constitutional Convention shall occur on January 5, 2027 at a time no later than 5:00 PM at the State Capitol in Oklahoma City (Sec. 2).
Specifies that delegates to the Convention will be officials from both the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma Senate (Sec. 3).
Establishes a Constitutional Convention Commission to conduct public hearings to gather input from the general public for issues to be addressed by the Constitutional Convention (Sec. 3).
Specifies that a simple majority of delegates is necessary to adopt any measure (Sec. 4)
Requires a ⅔ majority of delegates to review any aspect of the original Oklahoma Constitution for possible alterations (Sec. 4).
Specifies that after the ⅔ majority is reached to review a Constitutional article, a simple majority is required for adoption of proposed alterations (Sec. 4).
Specifies that this Act will be submitted to a vote by the people in the next General Election following its approval by the Governor (Sec. 10).
